CD79a - Cluster of differentiation 79a

CD79a Gene ID 12518
CD79a Official Full Name CD79A antigen (immunoglobulin-associated alpha)
CD79a Alias MB1, IGA, Ig-alpha
CD79a Cellular Expression B
CD79a Ligand/Receptor/Association
CD79a Function Subunit of B-cell antigen receptor.Signal transduction
CD79a Summary Cluster of differentiation CD79A also known as B-cell antigen receptor complex-associated protein alpha chain and MB-1 membrane glycoprotein, is a protein that in humans is encoded by the CD79A gene.[1]The CD79a protein together with the related CD79b protein, forms a dimer associated with membrane-bound immunoglobulin in B-cells, thus forming the B-cell antigen receptor (BCR).[2] This occurs in a similar manner to the association of CD3 with the T-cell receptor, and enables the cell to respond to the presence of antigens on its surface.[3]It is associated with agammaglobulinemia-3.[4]

CD79b - Cluster of differentiation 79b

CD79b Gene ID 974
CD79b Official Full Name CD79b molecule
CD79b Alias B29, IGB, Ig-beta
CD79b Cellular Expression B
CD79b Ligand/Receptor/Association
CD79b Function Subunit of B-cell antigen receptor.Signal transduction
CD79b Summary The B lymphocyte antigen receptor is a multimeric complex that includes the antigen-specific component, surface immunoglobulin (Ig). Surface Ig non-covalently associates with two other proteins, Ig-alpha and Ig-beta, which are necessary for expression and function of the B-cell antigen receptor. This gene encodes the Ig-beta protein of the B-cell antigen component. Alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been described. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]
