The Bioaim Human SDF-1 alpha ELISA kit is a solid phase sandwich ELISA (enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay) for the quantitative measurement of SDF-1 alpha in human serum and plasma. An antibody specific for human SDF-1 alpha was coated on a 96-well plate. Standards and samples are added to the wells and any SDF-1 alpha present binds to the immobilized antibody. The wells are washed and biotinylated anti-human SDF-1 alpha antibody is added. After washing away unbound biotinylated antibody, HRP-conjugated streptavidin is added to the wells. The wells are again washed and TMB substrate solution is added, which produces a blue color in direct proportion to the amount of SDF-1 alpha present in the initial sample. The Stop Solution changes the color from blue to yellow, and the microwell absorbances are read at 450 nm.Research Area Angiogenesis; inflammation;
C-X-C motif chemokine ligand 12 ( SDF-1 α ) Background: CXCL12/Stromal Cell-derived Factor 1 (SDF-1) is a member of the CXC chemokine ligand superfamily. The alpha and beta isoforms are ubiquitously expressed while the gamma isoform is primarily expressed in the heart. CXCL12/SDF-1 isoforms are chemotactic for T lymphocytes and monocytes. It is cardio protective and has also been shown to hinder CXCR4-mediated HIV infection of T cells. Stromal cell-derived factors 1-alpha and 1-beta are activate leukocytes and are often induced by proinflammatory stimuli such as lipopolysaccharide, TNF, or IL1.
