Description
Interleukin-8 (IL8) is a member of a family of structurally-related low molecular weight pro-inflammatory factors known as chemokines. IL8 is produced by stimulated monocytes, but not by tissue macrophages and T-lymphocytes. IL8 is a non-glycosylated protein of 8 kDa (72 amino acids). It is produced by processing of a precursor protein of 99 amino acids. IL8 is a member of the C-X-C motif chemokine family. This chemokine is one of the major mediators of the inflammatory response. It functions as a chemoattractant, and is also a potent angiogenic factor. IL8 is believed to play a role in the pathogenesis of bronchiolitis, a common respiratory tract disease caused by viral infection. The Human IL8 ELISA is an in vitro enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay for the quantitative measurement of Human IL8 in serum, plasma, cell culture supernatants and urine. This assay employs an antibody specific for IL8 coated on a 96-well plate. Standards and samples are pipetted into the wells and IL8 present in a sample is bound to the wells by the immobilized antibody. The wells are washed and Biotinylated Anti-Human IL8 antibody is added. After washing away unbound Biotinylated antibody, HRP-Streptavidin is pipetted to the wells. The wells are again washed, a TMB substrate solution is added to the wells and color develops in proportion to the amount of IL8 bound.
Storage and Stability
May be stored for up to 6 months at 2-8C from the date of shipment. Standard should be stored below -20C (-80C recommended) after reconstitution. Opened Microplate Wells and reagents may be store for up to 1 month at 2-8C. Return unused wells to the pouch containing desiccant pack, reseal along entire edge of zipseal.
Sensitivity
The minimum detectable dose of IL8 is typically less than 1.0 pg/mL
