The Bioaim Human IL-28A ELISA kit is a solid phase sandwich ELISA (enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay) for the quantitative measurement of IL-28A in Human serum, plasma and cell culture media. An antibody specific for Human IL-28A was coated on a 96-well plate. Standards and samples are added to the wells and any IL-28A present binds to the immobilized antibody. The wells are washed and biotinylated anti-Human IL-28A antibody is added. After washing away unbound biotinylated antibody, HRP-conjugated streptavidin is added to the wells. The wells are again washed and TMB substrate solution is added, which produces a blue color in direct proportion to the amount of IL-28A present in the initial sample. The Stop Solution changes the color from blue to yellow, and the microwell absorbances are read at 450 nm.Research Area Inflammation;
interferon lambda 2 (IL-28A) Background: Human/mouse IL-28A (IFN-lambda 2), IL-28B (IFN-lambda 3), and human IL-29 (IFN-lambda 1) are class II cytokine receptor ligands that are distantly related to members of the IL-10 family and type I IFN family. These cytokines exert bioactivities that overlap those of type I IFNs, including antiviral activity and up-regulation of MHC class I antigen expression. The proteins signal through the same heterodimeric receptor complex that is composed of the IL-10 receptor beta (IL-10 R beta) and a novel IL-28 receptor alpha (IL-28 R alpha, also known as IFN-lambda R1). IL-28 has also been shown to play a role in the adaptive immune response, as its inclusion as an immunoadjuvant during small animal vaccination lead to augmented antigen-specific Interferon Gamma release as well as an increased cytotoxic potential in CD8+ T cells.
