The Bioaim Human HB-EGF ELISA kit is a solid phase sandwich ELISA (enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay) for the quantitative measurement of HB-EGF in human serum and plasma. An antibody specific for human HB-EGF was coated on a 96-well plate. Standards and samples are added to the wells and any HB-EGF present binds to the immobilized antibody. The wells are washed and biotinylated anti-human HB-EGF antibody is added. After washing away unbound biotinylated antibody, HRP-conjugated streptavidin is added to the wells. The wells are again washed and TMB substrate solution is added, which produces a blue color in direct proportion to the amount of HB-EGF present in the initial sample. The Stop Solution changes the color from blue to yellow, and the microwell absorbances are read at 450 nm.Research Area Cell growth; proliferation;
heparin binding EGF like growth factor ( HB-EGF ) Background: HB-EGF (Heparin-Binding EGF-like growth factor), also known as DTR, is produced by bronchial epithelium, visceral and vascular smooth muscle, CD4+ T cells, cardiac muscle, glomerular podocytes, keratinocytes, and IL-10-secreting regulatory macrophages. It activates both the EGF R/ErbB1 and ErbB4 receptors and has been linked to many cellular processes including proliferation, apoptosis, cell migration/invasion, differentiation, morphogenesis, and development. HB-EGF is also involved in several aspects of cancer development and progression. It has also been shown to play a role in wound healing, cardiac hypertrophy, and heart development and function.
