The Bioaim Human ECM-1 ELISA kit is a solid phase sandwich ELISA (enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay) for the quantitative measurement of ECM-1 in Human serum, plasma and cell culture media. An antibody specific for Human ECM-1 was coated on a 96-well plate. Standards and samples are added to the wells and any ECM-1 present binds to the immobilized antibody. The wells are washed and biotinylated anti-Human ECM-1 antibody is added. After washing away unbound biotinylated antibody, HRP-conjugated streptavidin is added to the wells. The wells are again washed and TMB substrate solution is added, which produces a blue color in direct proportion to the amount of ECM-1 present in the initial sample. The Stop Solution changes the color from blue to yellow, and the microwell absorbances are read at 450 nm.Research Area Angiogenesis; Cancer Biomarker;

extracellular matrix protein 1(ECM-1) Background: Extracellular matrix protein-1 (ECM-1) is an 85 kDa, secreted glycoprotein important in connective tissue organization. ECM-1a, is the most widely expressed, with the highest expression in the placenta and heart. ECM-1b is found only in tonsil and associated with suprabasal keratinocytes. ECM-1c accounts for approximately 15% of skin ECM-1. ECM-1 is over-expressed in many malignant epithelial tumors and has demonstrated angiogenic activity . In the autoimmune condition lichen sclerosis, auto-antibodies mainly recognize the second tandem repeat or the C-terminus of ECM-1. ECM1 is implicated in breast cancer, thyroid cancer, hepatocellular carcinoma, and other cancers, and also in lipoid proteinosis and ulcerative colitis.
