The Bioaim Human ADAM9 ELISA kit is a solid phase sandwich ELISA (enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay) for the quantitative measurement of ADAM9 in Human serum, plasma and cell culture media. An antibody specific for Human ADAM9 was coated on a 96-well plate. Standards and samples are added to the wells and any ADAM9 present binds to the immobilized antibody. The wells are washed and biotinylated anti-Human ADAM9 antibody is added. After washing away unbound biotinylated antibody, HRP-conjugated streptavidin is added to the wells. The wells are again washed and TMB substrate solution is added, which produces a blue color in direct proportion to the amount of ADAM9 present in the initial sample. The Stop Solution changes the color from blue to yellow, and the microwell absorbances are read at 450 nm.Research Area Angiogenesis; cell adhesion;
ADAM Metallopeptidase Domain 9(ADAM9) Background: Members of the ADAM or MDC (Metalloprotease, Disintegrin, Cysteine-rich) family contain pro, metalloprotease-like, disintegrin-like, cysteine-rich, transmembrane and cytoplasmic domains. They play a fundamental role in diverse processes such as asthma, development, angiogenesis and cancer through their activities in cell adhesion/fusion, membrane protein shedding, and signal transduction. Over 30 members have been identified and about half of them are active metalloproteases such as ADAM8, 9, 10, 12 and 17/TACE. The protein encoded by this gene interacts with SH3 domain-containing proteins, binds mitotic arrest deficient 2 beta protein, and is also involved in TPA-induced ectodomain shedding of membrane-anchored heparin-binding EGF-like growth factor. Two alternative splice variants have been identified, encoding distinct isoforms.
