The Bioaim Mouse bFGF ELISA kit is a solid phase sandwich ELISA (enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay) for the quantitative measurement of bFGF in mouse serum, plasma and cell culture media. An antibody specific for mouse bFGF was coated on a 96-well plate. Standards and samples are added to the wells and any bFGF present binds to the immobilized antibody. The wells are washed and biotinylated anti-mouse bFGF antibody is added. After washing away unbound biotinylated antibody, HRP-conjugated streptavidin is added to the wells. The wells are again washed and TMB substrate solution is added, which produces a blue color in direct proportion to the amount of bFGF present in the initial sample. The Stop Solution changes the color from blue to yellow, and the microwell absorbances are read at 450 nm.Research Area angiogenesis, cell growth; Cancer Biomarker;
fibroblast growth factor 2 ( β-FGF ) Background: FGF basic (FGF-2) is a growth factor that functions in angiogenesis, wound healing, tissue repair, learning and memory, and the morphogenesis of heart, bone, and brain. It is upregulated in response to inflammatory stimuli and in many tumors. FGF basic binds to FGF R1c and 2c. Its bioactivity is modulated by a number of other binding partners including heparin, Integrin alpha V beta 3, soluble FGF R1, FGF-BP, free gangliosides, Thrombospondin, Pentraxin 3/TSG-14, Fibrinogen, alpha 2-Macroglobulin, PDGF, and CXCL4/PF4. These molecules act as cellular coreceptors or adhesion partners, extracellular matrix decoys or reservoirs, and soluble scavengers or chaperones. In particular, the interaction of FGF basic with cell surface heparan sulfate proteoglycans (HSPG) is required for the binding and activation of FGF receptors.
