The Bioaim Human TARC ELISA kit is a solid phase sandwich ELISA (enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay) for the quantitative measurement of TARC in Human serum, plasma and cell culture media. An antibody specific for Human TARC was coated on a 96-well plate. Standards and samples are added to the wells and any TARC present binds to the immobilized antibody. The wells are washed and biotinylated anti-Human TARC antibody is added. After washing away unbound biotinylated antibody, HRP-conjugated streptavidin is added to the wells. The wells are again washed and TMB substrate solution is added, which produces a blue color in direct proportion to the amount of TARC present in the initial sample. The Stop Solution changes the color from blue to yellow, and the microwell absorbances are read at 450 nm.Research Area Inflammation;

C-C motif chemokine ligand 17 (TARC) Background: Chemokine (C-C motif) ligand 17 (CCL17) is a small cytokine belonging to the CC chemokine family is also known as thymus and activation regulated chemokine (TARC). CCL17 is expressed constitutively in thymus, but only transiently in phytohemagglutinin-stimulated peripheral blood mononuclear cells. CCL17/TARC interacts with CCR4 and CCR8 to induce the chemoattraction of activated Th2 cells, basophils, and NK cells. It is produced by thymic dendritic cells, lymph node dendritic cells, monocytes, CD4+ T cells, keratinocytes, fibroblasts, bronchial epithelial cells, and Reed-Sternberg cells. CCL17 promotes Th2 cell recruitment to sites of inflammation and induces platelet aggregation and degranulation.
