The Bioaim Human Siglec-9 ELISA kit is a solid phase sandwich ELISA (enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay) for the quantitative measurement of Siglec-9 in Human serum, plasma and cell culture media. An antibody specific for Human Siglec-9 was coated on a 96-well plate. Standards and samples are added to the wells and any Siglec-9 present binds to the immobilized antibody. The wells are washed and biotinylated anti-Human Siglec-9 antibody is added. After washing away unbound biotinylated antibody, HRP-conjugated streptavidin is added to the wells. The wells are again washed and TMB substrate solution is added, which produces a blue color in direct proportion to the amount of Siglec-9 present in the initial sample. The Stop Solution changes the color from blue to yellow, and the microwell absorbances are read at 450 nm.Research Area Cells interaction; Pathogen entry;
Sialic acid-binding Ig-like lectin 9(Siglec-9) Background: Sialic acid-binding Ig-like lectin 5 is a protein that in humans is encoded by the SIGLEC5 gene. Siglecs are I-type (Ig-type) lectins belonging to the Ig superfamily. They are characterized by an N-terminal, Ig-like V-type domain that mediates sialic acid binding, followed by varying numbers of Ig-like C2-type domains, a single transmembrane region, and a cytoplasmic tail. The siglecs can be broadly classified into two subgroups: Siglecs-1, -2, and -4, and a Siglec-3/CD33-related subgroup (Siglecs-3, and -5 through -13 in primates) defined by sequence similarity and clustered gene localization. They are widely expressed on hematopoietic cells, often in a cell-type-specific manner, and Siglec-4/MAG is a myelin component in Schwann cells and oligodendrocytes.
