The Bioaim Human Angiogenin ELISA kit is a solid phase sandwich ELISA (enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay) for the quantitative measurement of Angiogenin in human serum and plasma. An antibody specific for human Angiogenin was coated on a 96-well plate. Standards and samples are added to the wells and any Angiogenin present binds to the immobilized antibody. The wells are washed and biotinylated anti-human Angiogenin antibody is added. After washing away unbound biotinylated antibody, HRP-conjugated streptavidin is added to the wells. The wells are again washed and TMB substrate solution is added, which produces a blue color in direct proportion to the amount of Angiogenin present in the initial sample. The Stop Solution changes the color from blue to yellow, and the microwell absorbances are read at 450 nm.

Background: The neuregulin family of structurally related glycoproteins comprises products from four distinct but related genes, Nrg-1, Nrg-2, Nrg-3, and Nrg-4. All NRG1 isoforms contain an EGF-like domain that is required for their direct binding to the ErbB3 or ErbB4 receptor tyrosine kinases. NRG1 isoforms can be classified into three major subtypes. NRG1 isoforms show distinct spatial and temporal expression patterns. These proteins play important roles during development of both the nervous system and the heart. They have been shown to regulate the selective expression of neurotransmitter receptors in neurons and at the neuromuscular junction, and promote the differentiation and development of Schwann cells from neural crest stem cells. NRG1s have also been shown to be involved in the establishment of the oligodendroglial lineage.
