The Bioaim Human MIP-1 alpha ELISA kit is a solid phase sandwich ELISA (enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay) for the quantitative measurement of MIP-1 alpha in Human serum, plasma and cell culture media. An antibody specific for Human MIP-1 alpha was coated on a 96-well plate. Standards and samples are added to the wells and any MIP-1 alpha present binds to the immobilized antibody. The wells are washed and biotinylated anti-Human MIP-1 alpha antibody is added. After washing away unbound biotinylated antibody, HRP-conjugated streptavidin is added to the wells. The wells are again washed and TMB substrate solution is added, which produces a blue color in direct proportion to the amount of MIP-1 alpha present in the initial sample. The Stop Solution changes the color from blue to yellow, and the microwell absorbances are read at 450 nm.Research Area Angiogenesis; inflammation;
chemokine (C-C motif) ligand 3 (MIP-1 α) Background: MIP-1 alpha (macrophage inflammatory protein 1 alpha) is a member of the CC or beta chemokine subfamily that was originally purified from the conditioned media of an LPS-stimulated murine macrophage cell line. MIP-1 alpha acts as a chemoattractant to a variety of cells including monocytes, T cells, B cells and eosinophils. CCL3 is a cytokine belonging to the CC chemokine family that is involved in the acute inflammatory state in the recruitment and activation of polymorphonuclear leukocytes through binding to the receptors CCR1, CCR4 and CCR5. CCL3 produces a monophasic fever of rapid onset whose magnitude is equal to or greater than that of fevers produced with either recombinant human TNF or recombinant human IL-1.
