The Bioaim Human FGF-9 ELISA kit is a solid phase sandwich ELISA (enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay) for the quantitative measurement of FGF-9 in Human serum, plasma and cell culture media. An antibody specific for Human FGF-9 was coated on a 96-well plate. Standards and samples are added to the wells and any FGF-9 present binds to the immobilized antibody. The wells are washed and biotinylated anti-Human FGF-9 antibody is added. After washing away unbound biotinylated antibody, HRP-conjugated streptavidin is added to the wells. The wells are again washed and TMB substrate solution is added, which produces a blue color in direct proportion to the amount of FGF-9 present in the initial sample. The Stop Solution changes the color from blue to yellow, and the microwell absorbances are read at 450 nm.Research Area Angiogenesis; cell growth;
Fibroblast growth factor 9 (FGF-9) Background: FGF-9 (Fibroblast Growth Factor-9), also known as HBGF-9 and GAF, is a heparin-binding protein that regulates cell proliferation, differentiation, and function through interactions with FGF R3 (IIIb) and possibly FGF R3 (IIIc). The protein encoded by this gene is a member of the fibroblast growth factor (FGF) family. FGF family members possess broad mitogenic and cell survival activities, and are involved in a variety of biological processes, including embryonic development, cell growth, morphogenesis, tissue repair, tumor growth and invasion. This protein was isolated as a secreted factor that exhibits a growth-stimulating effect on cultured glial cells. In nervous system, this protein is produced mainly by neurons and may be important for glial cell development. Expression of the mouse homolog of this gene was found to be dependent on Sonic hedgehog (Shh) signaling. Mice lacking the homolog gene displayed a male-to-female sex reversal phenotype, which suggested a role in testicular embryogenesis.
